Notification regarding grant of normal increment in the year of retirement

The Finance Division recently published a notification regarding the grant of utility increments in the year of retirement. The notification states that a government employee is entitled to normal increment on completion of six months of service in the year of retirement.

The notification also identified questions related to normal increase in promotion cases. However, the notification states that government employees promoted from lower or higher pay scales cannot get annual increment benefits after completing six months of service in the year of retirement. If they retire before 1st December after promotion only because they have not completed six months of service after promotion at large in the year of retirement.

However, the Finance Division clarified things and provided a statement on the same. The Division clarified that for the purpose of calculation of pension only, the servants in the higher pay scales can be re-fixed on the basis of the pay fixed in the lower scales.
