According to the details, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced a promotion policy for the next grades 1 to 8. This latest policy will be applicable to all model schools and colleges in Islamabad for the annual examinations to be held in 2022. According to the promotion policy, students of class 1 and 2 get minimum passing marks and are promoted to class 2 and 3 respectively. However, the promotion policy for Grade 3 and 4 students must meet the following criteria.
Class 3 to 4 Development Criteria: –
We’ve listed detailed FDE grade 3 and 4 promotion standards.
- Applicants must obtain at least 40% passing marks in each subject.
- Under the Promotion Policy for Class 1 and 2, all students in Class 1 and 2 who get minimum passing marks will be promoted to Class 2 and 3, respectively.
- Failure in more than two subjects will result in detention.

Class 6 to 7 Promotion Criteria: –
- Each subject has a minimum passing mark of 40%
- Failing in one of the articles in any category but getting 15% marks in this article with 40% overall.
- Failing in two subjects from each category but getting 15% marks in each failed subject which is 40% overall.
- Fail in two Category II subjects but get 15% marks in each failing subject which is 40% overall.
Class 5 to 8 Promotion Criteria: –
The minimum pass percentage for each subject in the annual examinations for Class 5 and 8 will be 35%. Students in Class 5 and 8 who meet the following criteria will be promoted to the next class.
- Failing in a single article in any category but getting 15% marks in this article with 35% overall.
- Failing in two subjects from each category but getting 15% marks in each failing subject which is 35% overall.
- Failing in two Category II subjects but getting 15% marks in each failing subject which is 35% overall.
Note: In addition, all students will be required to maintain a minimum attendance of 65%, and will be entitled to 3 discounted marks for promotion.
