Decisions of PMC regarding MDCAT 2022 during 11th meeting

The Pakistan Medical Commission held a meeting of the 11th Medical and Dental Council two days ago. During the meeting, the Commission announced its decision regarding various topics under discussion such as MDCAT 2022, Admission Schedule, MDCAT Passing Percentage, Admission to Vacant Seats in Dental Colleges, etc. He also announced the decision regarding the closure. MDCAT Exam 2022 Registration

During the 11th Medical and Dental Council meeting, the Commission approved the opening of registration for MDCA 2022. After May 25, 2022. However, the Commission will conduct MDCAT in 20 cities of Pakistan from September 07 to September 30, 2022.

Provincial MDCAT Committees

During the meeting, the council also approved a policy by the federal and provincial governments to include provincial MDCAT committees for each province and region. However, the Provincial MDCAT Committee will consist of 03 members, from two Public Medical Institutes and one Private Medical Institute.

The committee will review the curriculum and recommend changes to the curriculum to the National Medical and Dental Academic Board or may suggest inclusion of questions in the MDCAT exam 2022. IT system.

Reducing MDCAT passing percentage for dental college

Recently, dental colleges have made recommendations to the National Academic Board regarding reducing the pass percentage of dental programs. Thus, the Board directed the National Medical Authority to collect data regarding average MDCAT scores from all provinces and JSMU. Thus, after reviewing the data, the council recommended that the board set the MDCAT pass percentage for the BDS program at 55%.

Admission to Vacant Seats in Dental Colleges

Private Medical and Sindh Public Colleges requested the Council to fill the existing vacant seats of Dental College. Thus, the council directed the authority to provide detailed papers with analysis within a week. However, the council will also discuss the matter with provincial authorities before making final decisions.

Decide on the schedule of admission dates

Prior to the meeting, several colleges proposed to the council to schedule admissions to medical and dental colleges. Thus, on 14th May 2022, the Council considered the proposal for admission schedule submitted by DR Razi, President PAMI (Sindh Chapter). The council approved the necessary changes to the Medical and Dental Undergraduate Education Regulations 2021 to allow an admission Last Date.

Thus, all admission schedules will be based on the basic principle that:

“Admissions to public institutions will precede private admissions, and admissions to medical institutes will precede dental admissions.”

The council has formed a body for this purpose. National Scheduling Committee Which will submit the admission schedule to the authority.

Withdrawal from the Dental Program Sharing of Facilities Policy

The council has announced the immediate withdrawal of the interim policy on sharing facilities between medical and dental colleges.

Closure of Muhammad Medical College Peshawar

During the meeting, the council approved the closure of Muhammad Medical College Peshawar on the recommendation of the disciplinary committee. The council closed the college due to illegal admissions and solicitation of donations from students.

Now, the PMC has directed the authority to come up with a placement plan within one week to accommodate students in other colleges.
